>hello, everybody. . .a student just came into the library, working on a
>paper whose topic is "portrayal of the british in american films." well,
>for the moment, i'm clueless. can anyone give me a jumpstart?

A personal favorite: RUGGLES OF RED GAP (1930, d. by Leo McCarey),
starring Charles Laughton, Charlie Ruggles, ZaSu Pitts and Roland
Young. Later remade, with Bob Hope in the Laughton role, as FANCY
PANTS. I'm at a loss for books on the subject, though...
