Greetings, we hope this finds you well. It’s our pleasure to announce the publication of our Spring 2024 (vol. 22.1) Special Issue (“Feminist Film/Media Now”) guest edited
by outgoing Editor-in-Chief Maria San Filippo,
and Special Dossier (“Women’s Authorship and Adaptation in Contemporary Television”) guest edited by
Sarah Louise Smyth & Stefania Marghitu and featuring
an open access roundtable moderated by Smyth. More exciting yet, this feast of feminist media scholarship features five open access articles plus free access guest editor introductions. Please see the Table

We’re delighted to introduce as our newest member of the editorial team
Geneveieve Newman, who will be overseeing our
blog and social media operations in the role of Online Editor, as Max Bledstein
steps into the newly created position of Associate Editor. We’re also pleased to welcome
M. Sellers Johnson into his new role as Book
Reviews Editor, replacing Matt Connolly as he
takes the reins as Editor-in-Chief.
For those headed to the 2024
SCMS Conference in Boston, we're co-hosting an
off-site event on Thursday, March 14 at Emerson College's Paramount Center (559 Washington St.). Starting at 6pm we'll screen 2022 action-horror film
Slash/Back followed by a remote Q&A with filmmaker
Nyla Innuksuk, and after 9pm we'll reconvene
for a reception at nearby venue Shojo (9A Tyler St.) Please join us for complimentary dessert in honor of our 20th birthday and to enjoy some celebratory camaraderie!
Yet another felicitous announcement: the 2023 SCMS Queer & Trans Caucus Chris
Holmlund Graduate Student Writing Prize has been
awarded to Adin Walker (PhD candidate, Performance
Studies, Stanford University), whose article “Flowers, Concrete, Water: Care and Precarity in Tsai Ming-liang’s I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone (2006)”
will be published in our Summer 2024 issue (vol. 22.2). Congratulations Adin!
