Rewind, Replay

Northumbria University's Moving Image, Popular Media and Culture research group, in association with the BAFTSS British Cinema and Television Special Interest Group (SIG), warmly invites you to an event celebrating the publication of Johnny Walker's new book, Rewind, Replay: Britain and the Video Boom, 1978-92 (Edinburgh University Press).

Join Johnny Walker and British film and video scholar Kate Egan (author of Trash or Treasure? Censorship and the Changing Meanings of the Video Nasties) as they discuss the book’s key themes, including the context that gave birth to the first video distributors and video rental shops, the tumultuous ‘video nasties’ panic, the high-street penetration of low-cost video entertainment, the arrival of the US behemoth Blockbuster, and more.

The event is free to attend and will last approximately 1 hour. Audience members will be given an opportunity to ask questions.

The book is now available to pre-order. For 30% off the RRP (£19.99 £13.99), order the book direct from the publisher quoting ‘NEW30’ at the check-out:
http://edinburghuniversitypress.com.

Praise for Rewind, Replay:

Thanks everyone.

Best wishes

Johnny
