Visiting Assistant Professor in Film Production Position at Wesleyan University



WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY FILM STUDIES DEPARTMENT invites applications for a two-year teaching position in Film and Digital Video Production. Applicants should be experienced filmmakers with a demonstrated record of teaching undergraduate film and video production. MFA and/or Ph.D. in Film Studies or related discipline required. Primary responsibilities include teaching basic and advanced 16mm and Digital filmmaking. Successful candidate is expected to teach 16mm sync/non-sync cameras, DV cameras, analog/digital recording, 16mm and digital post-production, and screenwriting. Knowledge of technological innovations in the field required, and expertise in 2D and 3D computer and camera animation is a plus. Applicants must be able to lecture on technical and conceptual production skills as well as to teach the small crew model of narrative filmmaking. Wesleyan’s program is solidly grounded in the integration of production and critical studies, and applicants must be committed to teaching film and video production within the context of film as an academic discipline. Willingness to relocate to Middletown Connecticut is crucial.
