Two-Year Position in Media Studies, Pomona College The Media Studies Department at Pomona College, a member of the Claremont Colleges, invites applications for a two-year, full time visiting assistant professor to start in the fall semester of 2016. Candidates should have a strong background in Media Theory from a Critical Theoretical and/or Cultural Studies perspective and have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates must be able to teach either Introduction to Film or Introduction to Media Studies in a department that emphasizes critical approaches to the study of the media. The candidate will be expected to teach upper level undergraduate seminars in specialty areas of interest. Areas of emphasis that are particularly desirable to the Department include: Screen Studies, Critical Media Studies, Critical Race Studies, Critical Political Economy, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Critical Production Studies, Postcolonial Studies, and Transnational Media Studies. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented students. Teaching load is 3/2. Pomona College is a highly selective liberal arts college located 35 miles east of Los Angeles, California.
