Dear Colleague The 20th and 21st Century French and Francophone Studies International Colloquium will be held on three university campuses in New York, 6-8 March 2014. The theme of the colloquium is ‘money’ (see http://frenchconference2013.gatech.edu/CFP_NewYork_2014.pdf). I would like to form a panel of three papers on this theme in French cinema. The focus can be anything connected with money. The CFP suggests some lines of enquiry. The focus could be individual films that have money as their theme, signaled in the title (e.g. L’Herbier, Bresson), or films where the pursuit of money plays an important part (e.g. Rififi and heist films more generally; Pickpocket; rise to fame and fortune; corruption), or aspects of the production, or aspects of the more general landscape of the industry, such as stardom. Other ways of interpreting the colloquium’s focus are of course equally welcome. Papers can be either in English or in French. If you are interested, please send me an abstract of 200-250 words with your institutional affiliation by 31 July 2014. _____________________________________________________ Phil Powrie Professor of Cinema Studies Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences The Elizabeth Fry Building University of Surrey GU2 7XH [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Faculty Administrative Officer and PA to the Dean: Linda Ellis < [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> >/+44 (0)1483689445 Webpage: http://www.surrey.ac.uk/fahs/people/phil_powrie/index.htm Studies in French Cinema: http://surrey.ac.uk/fahs/research/sfc _____________________________________________________ ---- For past messages, visit the Screen-L Archives: https://listserv.ua.edu/archives/screen-l.html
