The Harry Ransom Center, an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin, annually awards over 50 fellowships to support research projects in all areas of the humanities. Each year, the Robert De Niro Endowed Fund, Warren Skaaren Film Research Endowment, and Filmscript Acquisitions Endowment fund a number of projects focusing on the Center's film collections. The Center's film collections include the papers of producers David O. Selznick and Lewis Allen, actors Gloria Swanson and Robert De Niro, screenwriters Ernest Lehman and Paul Schrader, acting teacher Stella Adler, special effects master Norman Dawn, and the Interstate Theatre Circuit, among others. Also available are $1,200 to $1,700 travel stipends and dissertation fellowships with a $1,500 stipend. During the fellowship, scholars will work on-site in the Center's collections in Austin, TX. Austin is home to a thriving film community including the Austin Film Festival, Austin Film Society, and the South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival.
