As part of its dynamic research policy and using the additional possibility that is offered by the Flemish Government through the resources of the Special Research Fund (BOF), t he university is seeking to fill, at the faculty of Social and Political Science, a full time vacancy (m/f) in one of the 3 possible domains as mentioned below: Research Professor (tenure track BOF) Media and Visual studies OR Multi-level governance OR Study of social problems (on a micro, meso and macro level) Job description : * The assignment consists of lecturing duties, scientific research and service to society. During a period, limited to five years (duration of the temporary appointment in tenure track), scientific research will be the main activity * The candidate is expected to expand the scientific research in one of domains as mentioned above * The candidate is expected to acquire external funding (national and international) and to supervise doctoral students * The candidate will be assigned limited lecturing duties and is expected to offer limited scientific service. Profile and requirements : * The candidate holds a doctoral degree , obtained after October 1, 2003 * The candidate has an international scientific CV and has, considering the trajectory of his postdoctoral career, qualitatively outstanding academic achievements in the broader field according to the domain involved * The scientific and educational qualities of the candidate comply with the requirements as stipulated by the university's policy (see mission statement) * The candidate has strong social and communicative skills, can work in a team and is able, in the medium term, to lead a research group. We offer : a full-time position as a lecturer in a temporary appointment in the tenure track for a term of five years. This position will lead to an immediate permanent appointment as a senior lecturer if the performance is assessed favourably on the basis of previously fixed and publicly announced evaluation criteria.
