Have you tried looking in Cahiers du Cinema or in the British trade press such as The Kinematograph Weekly? Also I would check the major newspapers of the period. best Dr. Michael Hammond Senior Lecturer English School of Humanities University of Southampton Southampton SO17 4BF Tel:+44 (0)2380 596708 -----Original Message----- From: Film and TV Studies Discussion List on behalf of Ali Sent: Tue 7/10/2007 7:02 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [SCREEN-L] Elia Kazan Hello, I'm working on a soon-to-be-published collection of selected letters belonging to Elia Kazan at the University of Missouri with Professor Al Devlin. Currently, I am in the research phases of the project and am trying to find sources that might lead me to find any information describing Kazan's international reputation. I have been able to find a few small articles in the New York Times regarding the international film festivals his films were in however, I have been unsuccessful in actually finding international reviews on his work or international articles that reference to Kazan's reputation as a film director. If anyone has any information or knows of a good international source please point me in the right direction. I would greatly appreciate it. Also, anything that would describe Kazan's national reputation as a film director, his development of his technical skills on the screen (lighting, set design, etc), and his constant addressing of social issues (sex, divorce, anti- semitism) in his films would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance who contribute and have a beautiful day! ---- Screen-L is sponsored by the Telecommunication & Film Dept., the University of Alabama: http://www.tcf.ua.edu ---- Screen-L is sponsored by the Telecommunication & Film Dept., the University of Alabama: http://www.tcf.ua.edu
