Although I'm not a production specialist, I've been asked to look into to adding a basic production class or two to our curriculum at Alfred University. Specifically, they'd like me to be able to train students to put together basic news packages and maybe some marketing- type video that can be uploaded to the university's website-you know things like news-styled reports on campus events etc. I believe that I could do most of this with what comes on the current Mac systems (iMovie and Garage Band) although more professional software, like Final Cut Pro, certainly would be preferable. Can any of you recommend a locale that offers some relatively intensive training classes on this sort of thing-the closer to upstate NY the better? I'm sure I can find something through Apple, but I was wondering if anybody had a more firsthand recommendation. I'd like to come out of the training with the ability to adequately teach the subject as well as an idea of what equipment we might need to properly set up a lab (preferably a Mac lab) for this type of work. On that note, all suggestions regarding trainers and start-up equipment will certainly be appreciated. -chad ------------------------------------------------------------------- Chandler Harriss, PhD Alfred U.
