Subject: Bad News at the BFI

The BFI has announced that it has 'entered into discussions with a
number of
external partners' to take over their book publishing, in other words,
sell
off the BFI imprint, allowing only a short and internal 28-day period of
consultation. This is the first stage of a 'realignment' which will
destroy
the BFI as we know it.

A letter of protest appeared in The Guardian on Saturday June 9, 2007
(http://www.guardian.co.uk/letters/story/0,,2099050,00.html), signed by
57
BFI authors. For a full list of signatories and more information, see
http://www.bfiwatch.blogspot.com/
