I am a graduate student taking a course on rhetoric and film. My paper is about the 2002 ITVS film “Bombies,” exposing the danger of cluster bomb units in Laos. I am examining the use of children (and I might expand that to other vulnerable groups) for rhetorical effect, but I have not been able to discover much research on the topic. Essentially I am interested in the rhetoric of children, specifically, the exploitation of threats on children to sway an adult audience. I have found information on the victimization of the child; however, I have been unable to locate a strong text that deals specifically with the visual and emotional appeal threatened children bring to political protest and/or propaganda films. Furthermore, I have been unable to locate any scholarly articles about either the film or the director. I would appreciate any suggestions you all may have, on or offline Thanks much, Lynda Davis ([log in to unmask]) or ([log in to unmask]). ---- Screen-L is sponsored by the Telecommunication & Film Dept., the University of Alabama: http://www.tcf.ua.edu
