In Aug 2004, the Pacific Film Archive at UC Berkeley did a wonderful
retrospective of Visconti's work, which included Lo straniero. What a
treat! At the time, the archive director Edith Kramer told me that she
didn't know of any plans for a dvd release. But since that was a
couple of years ago, perhaps she might have new info? Here's the link
