Dear Scholars of Film, Popular Culture, and Literature, This is the last call for abstracts and proposals. The door shuts next week!! Please check out this opportunity to present your research or to immerse yourself in a meeting charged with studying film and history, a topic of growing interest. (Not, by the way film history--a different topic.) Those who wish to talk about _Fahrenheit 9/11_ will be listed as respondents at a monster session on Saturday led by Gary Edgerton of _The Journal of Popular Film and Television_. A short, pungent analysis will make you part of the active side of the program and gain a place in the printed program. This session will go for three hours or so due to the impact and import of this controversial film. ______________________________________________ Below is the updated CFP: UPDATE of deadline for "War in Film, TV, and History." "War in Film, TV, and History" paper proposals now due by 15 September This conference is sponsored by the Film and History League, the journal Film & History, and the Literature/Film Association. The new deadline for proposals gives researchers and teachers a bit more time to indicate an interest in a meeting which will include scholars from across the globe. There are 36 areas of interest, all listed on the web site for Film & History: _www.filmandhistory.org_ (http://www.filmandhistory.org/) Please check them out. Of special note are the featured speakers: Adrian Cronauer (GM, Vietnam); Jeanine Basinger (The WWII Combat Film); Lawrence Suid (Guts and Glory); and Frank Thompson (Alamo expert). There will be a plenary session to discuss Michael Moore's recent controversial Fahrenheit 9/11. Many journal editors will be present to meet authors. Major publishers will have representatives on site. This conference will be conducted near the DFW Airport and will run from noon on 11 November until the noon of 14 November.
