WAR IN FILM, TELEVISION, AND HISTORY

November 11-14, 2004

Area CFP:  Aviation in War Films

 

This call for papers focuses on all aspects of aviation in feature films, television, and documentaries on war.  This area includes international film, television, and documentaries.  Topics might include but are not limited to:

 

Films on WWI, WWII, Korea, the Cold War, Viet Nam, Desert Storm . . .

 

Films for discussion might include but are not limited to:

 

Aces High, Bat 21, Dark Blue World, The Dawn Patrol, Flying Leathernecks,             Thunderbolt, Top Gun, The First of the Few, Hell's Angels, The Hunters,                                   Tora Tora Tora, Pearl Harbor

 

Deadline for proposals is July 30, 2004.

 

"War in Film, Television, and History," is an interdisciplinary conference meeting in the Dallas Area, 11-14 November 2004.  This Film and History League gathering will be joined by the Literature/Film Association.

 

The featured luncheon speaker is Adrian Cronauer whose "life" was appropriated by Barry Levinson for "Good Morning Vietnam" (1987) starring Robin Williams.  Cronauer will discuss how his treatment and script evolved into the final projection.
