The Radio-TV-Film Department at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with specialization in the field of media education/literacy. This person will teach courses and undertake research on media education issues and will assist students in fulfilling teacher certification requirements in the colleges of Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences, Education, and Communication. This person will also have secondary emphases on media and youth, media pedagogy at the K-12 level, new media and education, and/or other related topics. Knowledge of media production, experience with educational media projects and curriculum development, and willingness to build new initiatives strongly preferred. Ph.D. preferred, ability and track record in academic publishing essential. The Department of Radio-Television-Film has 25 permanent faculty, approximately 950 undergraduate majors & 150 graduate students pursuing Ph.D., M.A. or M.F.A. degrees. RTF offers courses in film & video production, screenwriting, digital media research & design, film & television studies, international communication, telecommunication technology & policy, gender & sexuality, & ethnic issues in communication.
