Not sure if I understand your request, but... Bram Stoker's Dracula (there's an excellent Thomas Elsaesser article on this in Contemporary Hollywood Cinema, edited by Murray Smith and Stephen Neale). Also, Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow contains a thaumatrope and...I forgot what you call that thing that looks like a zoetrope that projects on walls. There are also the rather odd vision-enhancing instruments that Ichabod Crane uses.
