** in addition, i'm pretty sure channel 4 (UK) did a historical drama /
documentary a couple of years back - in relation to the thesis (was
there a book on the subject recently?) that guy fawkes was "set up"
since the british government was in need of a terrorist scapegoat.

so if you find a copy -- send one to tony blair too...

The IMDB lists a few examples: FATHER CAME TOO (1963), a British film
that apparently includes a number of historical British characters and
the 1971 series farce CARRY ON HENRY. The closest thing to a serious
film seems to be a 1923 silent film titled GUY FAWKES. There is also,
strangely enough, a 1999 comic/horror film titled TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN,
with Tom Everett Scott as a character named Guy Fawkes (and a woman
character named "Chris Marlowe"). I suspect ex-English majors with too
much time on their hands.

Does anyone know if there has ever been a film about the 17th
century
"Gunpowder Plot" against Britain's Parliament and inspired "Guy
Fawkes Day."
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!
