The book is a general introduction to the aesthetics and economics of
contemporary Hollywood cinema as well as the recent debate surrounding the
notion of the so-called "New" or "post-classical" Hollywood. It might also
serve as an introduction to the writings of David Bordwell and Kristin
Thompson.
