>===== Original Message From "Stephanie Socol" <[log in to unmask]> ===== MEDIA RELEASE: November 19, 2002 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE KINGSTON CANADIAN FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES THIRD ANNUAL EVENT Last year’s largest stand-alone showcase of Canadian feature films returns The Kingston Canadian Film Festival is pleased to announce preliminary details for its third annual event. Newly sponsored by The Kingston Whig Standard and Investors Group, and in partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival Group, the festival will run February 27th – March 2nd, 2003. Filmmakers from across the country are encouraged to submit their work for possible participation, and submission forms are now available on the festival’s official website, www.KingCanFilmFest.com. The feature film deadline is January 27, 2003 and the “Local Shorts” deadline is February 22, 2003. 2001’s inaugural Kingston Canadian Film Festival was a huge success, selling- out fifteen of twenty screenings and attracting more than 1,500 attendees. And this past year’s event saw the addition of a second screening venue on Queens University campus, as attendance nearly doubled and the festival proudly became the largest stand-alone showcase of strictly Canadian feature films in the world, highlighting a diverse program of 22 features and 23 shorts. Currently, plans are underway to make the third annual event even larger in scope, including more great films, top actors and filmmakers from across the country, premieres, parties, seminars and much more. Once again, the very popular “Local Shorts” component will also be included, wherein Kingston’s own locally produced short films are showcased before each feature. Previously selected local work has varied from that of a Grade 4 elementary school class to a short film by Gary Ledbetter (Director of the Genie Award nominated feature film, Henry & Verlin), who is now based in Kingston. The festival’s redesigned website, www.KingCanFilmFest.com, was officially launched on November 15, 2002, and complete updated information on the festival, including downloadable submission forms, are now available online. The 2003 Kingston Canadian Film Festival runs February 27 – March 2, 2003 For further information, please contact: Alex Jansen at (905) 852-0747 Sincerely, Stephanie -- Reply to: [log in to unmask] _____________________________________________ Stephanie Socol, Local Shorts Programmer [log in to unmask] (613)531-8367 The 2003 Kingston Canadian Film Festival February 27 - March 2, 2003 Kingston, Ontario, Canada http://www.kingcanfilmfest.com _____________________________________________ ---- For past messages, visit the Screen-L Archives: http://bama.ua.edu/archives/screen-l.html
