The department seeks to redefine itself as part of an urban research university focused on questions of globalization and technology, particularly as they affect a comprehensive program with a breadth of historical scope and disciplinary diversity. For two tenure-track assistant professor positions, the department invites applications from scholars whose research addresses concerns relevant to an English department focused on global, urban, and/or technological issues, in relation to one or more of the following areas: 1) African-American literature and culture (particularly trans-Atlantic or pan-American); 2) literature and globalization (including trans-national and post-colonial); 3) digital culture.
