In the movie, Air Force One is hijacked and the President escapes in a special pod that lands in a Manhattan of the future, which has been sealed off as a high-security prison, and he is held hostage by the criminals kept there. Kurt Russell, as the hero, lands a glider on top of one of the WTC towers as he begins his search for the President. The tower itself is a wreck, of course, but still standing. I doubt that the film had any more influence on the terrorists than Spielberg's A.I., which also depicts a WTC in shambles (but standing) after coastal waters have swamped the city.
