CALL FOR FILMS for a FEMINIST FILM FESTIVAL Friday, October 26th and Saturday, October 27th, 2001 SUNY New Paltz Women's Studies Program New Paltz, NY The SUNY New Paltz Women's Studies Program is looking for feminist documentaries, experimental and narrative films and videos for a feminist film festival being planned for this fall. We are looking specifically for films and videos with a feminist point of view that critically examine women's experiences. The range of topics is broad but may include sexuality, gender identity, family, adolescent girls, race, spirituality, reproductive freedom, global and cross cultural issues, etc. We envision the festival as a screening of approximately 10 carefully chosen films (more if there are more shorts, less if there are more features) each followed by a presentation and discussion with the filmmaker, producer, actors, and other appropriate persons involved with the film's production and reception. Please submit a written description of your film, explaining what makes your film feminist. Your proposal should also include the film's length, genre and main themes. Please also submit an overview of your filmmaking work to date, a vitae or a biographical narrative. Proposals will be accepted until July 13, 2001.
