Responsibilities will include teaching courses in Hindi and Urdu from the beginning to advanced levels using both devanagari and nasta'liq scripts as well as courses in South Asian literature and culture. Preference will be for candidates with a Ph.D., or ABD, in South Asian Studies with a research specialty in Hindi or Urdu literature and evidence of effective teaching experience. Teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate level include Introduction to Film, Film History, and Film Theory, as well as courses in area of specialization. Training in fields of English Studies, Cultural Studies, Screenwriting, or World Literature also welcome. The search committee will interview candidates at the MLA convention in Washington, DC.
