CALL FOR PAPERS:

The First Lady on Film and TV: The Documentary Perspective

The Journal of Film & History and the Film and History League are
sponsoring a conference devoted to THE AMERICAN PRESIDENCY ON FILM, November
10-12, 2000. Full details about the conference, the
registration procedures, travel benefits, and the organizations can be
found on the national web site for Film & History:
http://h-net.msu.edu/~filmhis

Paper submissions are sought for the area, "The First Lady on Film and
TV." Documentaries and docudramas, such as Richard Kaplan's classic
documentary, The Eleanor Roosevelt Story, and the ABC TV docudrama, The Betty
Ford Story, as well as recent feature films, such as Dave, Guarding Tess, and
Primary Colors, are clearly candidates for analysis, but most presidential
films, including documentaries, reflect in some way on the
First Lady and can reward study. A broad range of topics and approaches
is welcome. Papers are limited to twenty minutes in length.

Send Papers or proposals by Sept. 1 to:
