After considerable searching, I turn to this list for some information on
film distribution.

Does anyone know if the film, "Le Gone du Chaaba," based on the novel by
Azouz Begag and released in France in 1998 has ever been subtitled?

From my research, I have discovered that there is no American distributor
for this film. It is still unclear whether there might be a UK distributor.

If this film is totally unavailable, are there other films that depict
1960's immigrant life in the so-called "bidonvilles" that I might be
overlooking? Subtitles are required, as it would be shown in an
undergraduate history course.

Thanks very much,

Mary Lewis
