However, take a look at the Anne Baxter character Eve in ALL ABOUT EVE (1950), the Marlene Dietrich character Lola-Lola in THE BLUE ANGEL (1930, German), the Bette Davis character Regina in THE LITTLE FOXES (1941) - all classic "villainesses". The film world is littered with these types of female protagonists, so good luck with your search.
