The nazis were *not* taken away from the Swedish version of CASABLANCA. It was, though, heavily cut during the war since the Swedish film censorship had to take "relationship with foreign powers" in account when making decisions on censoring or not. Negative depictions of nazis were thus snipped (they even took out the kick-on-the-vichy-bottle-scene, which is kind of impressive is some weird sense). The main issue was not removing nazis, but making films less partial towards one of the fighting sides. Thus, SCARLET PIMPERNEL was banned throughout the war and not a single distributor even tried to import Chaplins THE DICTATOR. Of course, things changed after the war, but that's another story.
