I teach screenwriting at Cal State LA (and taught it many years at USC). Take a screenwriting class. There are guides to the film school. Talk to your state film commission about screenwriters in your area. Or send away for a script - from "Script City" in Hollywood - they mail them for about $20 a copy. (and have for years). I feel the actual screenplays are the best writing teachers. (Not the published scripts but that actual xeroxed artifact.). By the way, I am starting a screenwriting column on the world wide web. There are comedy classes all over the place. Danny Simon offers a very good one in Los Angeles. Call Samuel French Bookstore in Los Angeles and they can advise you on a selection of film books on the topic of writing comedy for the screen. Of course, it helps to have talent.
