This only goes to prove my two-years theory: any time an actor is
nominated for an Oscar two years in a row, and is given the Oscar in the
second year, they are invariably actually being awarded for work done the
first year, as the Academy suffers a fit of guilt over their failure to
recognize the work the first time. Look for a Cate Blanchett Best
Supporting Actress award next year.
