The Visual Culture and Media Academic Group is seeking to appoint a
Professor in the interdisciplinary field of visual culture and media, who
will be expected to contribute expertise in the field of cultural theory,
film studies, and twentieth-century art, design and media.
Responsibilities include: research and teaching at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels; the supervision of research degree students;
contributing expertise in the fields of cultural theory, film studies, and
twentieth-century art, design and media.
Candidates should: possess a high profile in international research and
publication; have experience of teaching at postgraduate level; be familiar
with administration and curriculum development; be aware of recent
developments in research and practice in visual culture and media; and be
able to demonstrate a proven interest in the relationship between theory
and practice.
Visual Culture and Media offers degrees in a number of related programmes
from within the School of Art, Design and Performing Arts, including BA
Joint Honours subjects in Art and Design History and Film Studies; BA
History and Theory of Media, Art and Design; BA Film Studies; MA Visual
Culture; MA Teaching Visual Culture; MA Digital Architecture; MA
Architecture and Spatial Culture; and links with the MA Fine Art and MA
Aesthetic and Art Theory.
