FILMBUILDING: DEVICES AND DELICACIES OF FILM DESIGN

                School of Image Arts
                Ryerson Polytechnic University
                Toronto
                September 24-26, 1999

The conference will be an examination of the role played by design and
designers in both classic and contemporary films.  It will focus on both
the work of individual filmmakers and larger trends in the application
of design to filmmaking.

Paper proposals from scholars, graduate students, designers, filmmakers
and film writers are welcome.  These should take the form of abstracts of
no more than 300 words (including TITLE and BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION).
All abstracts should be forwarded no later than March 15, 1999 to:
