may be of interest to you. It is titled: The Art of _The Piano_. It
examines the commodification of the art film in New Zealand.

My research will not only cast light on the cultural similarities and differences between NZ and France, but also on the growth of Film Societies and Film Festivals in this country. I don't expect to find anything specific to NZ having already been written but I would be grateful if anyone out there could let me know of anything that's been written on a similar subject, i.e., French cinema's influence on some other country's film culture. 'Film culture' in this context covers local film-making practices, the film society movement, film festivals , and the specialist film audience. There may be other studies
