In response to Andrew inquiry of Scifi film that have Western genre
characteristics, one film would be Robocop. The hero heavily employs
Western conventions in battle and has a high code of ethics for enforcin
the law. Some themes of Robocop are anti-big business and exposing the
corruption of commercialism and technology. Look into this film because
it definately has parallels to the Western genre.

Good Luck, -Dylan
