Department Description:Humboldt State University is located on the northern

7,000 students. The Theatre Arts Department offers undergraduate students a
broad, diversified introduction to theatre arts. Although the
undergraduate philosophy stresses strength through breadth, a student may
emphasize one of the sub-areas within the Theatre Arts Department: Film
Production, Theatre Production or Performance (including acting, physical
theatre and dance). At the graduate level, the department offers an MA in
Film Production, Theatre Production and Performance, and an MFA in Dramatic

department. The film area regularly attracts art and wildlife majors who
minor in film.

The film program offers 16mm and Super-8 production equipment and
facilities including an optical printer, sound studio, production studio
and Media100 non-linear editing system. The annual Humboldt International
Film Festival presents films and workshops every spring and is the oldest
student-run film competition in the world. Some festival events and class
