A recent Indian film 'Bandit Queen' purportedly traces the life of
Phoolan Devi, a real 'bandit' (now a member of Parliament) who terrorised
the ravines of central India. The film is made by Shekhar Kapoor though
its authenticity has been questioned by Phoolan herself and the director
has been dragged to court. Its release has been stalled in India.
