New York news anchors have also appeared in movies recently.  The one
that comes to mind is a New York news anchor playing a New York news
anchor in Ransom.  I think the merging of news and movies will only
continue as both actors and anchors have the same bosses: Disney and
ABC/Fox Corporation and FOX News/Time Warner and CNN.
