Actually, that was William Alland, who plays Thompson, the reporter, but
the stentorian narration is clearly meant to evoke van Voorhis or his ilk,
as the entire "News on the March" sequence is meant to evoke the "March of
Time" newsreels, another indicator of how Kane's style of sensationalistic
journalism has supposedly given way to the anonymous corporate, multimedia
journalism of Luce-like entities.
