Hi, I am not a member of the support team, and maybe out of my league here,
but I guess you wont mind me posting the following
1) about current version
2) about connecting from a DOS box.
3) End note, about which list to post to + +

1) Current version
If my mail filters haven't failed me, my PMNEWS folder tells me
the current DOS version is: 3.31 and can be downloaded from:

   ftp.let.rug.nl in /pub/pmail/pmail331.zip
   risc.ua.edu, in /pub/network/pegasus/pmail331.zip

There is a 3.40 version out to, but AFAIK the only difference from 3.31 is
that it has NDS support for sites running Novell NetWare v4.1 and later
versions. Thus if you don't need that, I'll guess you can save some disk
space and go for 3.31. If you on the other hand need the NDS support, it
can be found at
        risc.ua.edu, in /pub/network/pegasus/pmail340.zip
        ftp.let.rug.nl in /pmail/pmail340.zip

2) Connecting from a DOS box.

I haven't tried it my self, but check out the following site which seems to
answer to all your questions and more:

Caldera released the free to use OpenDos ( based on former Dr. Dos and
Novell Dos) in February this year (one version with Personal NetWare also.
(Source code for Open DOS (not PNW) released and planed to be released)
The other day they announced a soon to come web browser for DOS -
Webspyder.

# See their press release about Webspyder at:

    (probably also at: http://www.caldera.com/dos/ )

# Checkout OpenDos at the following sites:

# Also check out their page with links to other DOS related software,
developements etc:

# You probably want to check this out to:

(snip from the page intro)
Drivers <dos_drv.htm>covers connecting to the internet. There are some
famous commercial tools like PC-NFS and PC-TCP, but there are also
several freeware alternatives. Some freeware utilities allow you to
connect to the internet through the modem using either SLIP or PPP .
Internet packages for DOS almost always require using a packet driver
    of some sort.
(snip ends)

3) End note:

I guess someone is going to suggest that you subscribe and post to the
pm-dos@ list about *DOS-only* matters. Now they don't have to do that,
since I just did :-) To find out more about the different mailing lists
available get the usergroup faq, and while you do that you just might want
to check out the pmail faq and the index of available recourses from
David Harris autoresponder.

# If so, send a message
TO: [log in to unmask]
And type the following on separate lines in your message:
SEND INDEX
SEND PMAIL.FAQ
SEND USERGRP.FAQ
