Lesli Larson's mention of Raw Deal reminded me of a series of
"escape" films -- which might be interesting in terms of how they
offer a fantasy bribe of operating outside
institutions/institutionalized discourse (or even a self-reflexive
commentary on film as "escape" from the structures of film
form/Hollywood narrative...but that's a casual stretch). Anyway, the
short list

The Great Escape
Escape from Alcatraz
Escape from New York
Escape from LA

A ton of others, I'm sure...

Escape from New York might be the most interesting pomo text to look
at: the city as prison.
