Mike Frank wonders if there has been a screen version of Hammett's RED HARVEST.

The novel is sometimes cited as inspiration for Kurosawa's YOJIMBO (and hence
for A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and LAST MAN STANDING--the recent Bruce Willis film),
but I've also heard doubts cast on that geneology.

There were apparently plans for Italian director Alberto Grimaldi to make
a film version, but the only direct reference I can find at a glance is this:
Variety April 25 1990, v339, n3, p5(2)

Hope that's of some help.
