A good place to start is _The Making of King Kong_ by Orville Goldner and
George E. Turner. New York: Ballantine Books, 1975. Chapter 1 =
"Cooper-Schoedsack Productions" which includes an acount of the making of
_Grass_. Chapter 2 is on _Chang_, their second movie.

Lewis Jacobs' book _The Documentary Tradition_, 2nd edition, has an essay
on Grass and Chang by Richard Griffith on pages 22-24.
