Patricia,
I have seen the film, and I thought it was quite a bad film; it just talked
about 'how terrible those Chinese people and Govt. who live out there
are,' it was really simplistic, and all that I got from it was that the
Western world must somehow control 'that terrible Chinese government,' it
seemed to work as a justification for some kind of an understanding of
China as a barabaric country, with a barbaric culture.
There was a discussion on BBC Tv about the film that I saw afterwards,
with the director, an editor of a newspaper, a Chinese medical student
and and area studies spcialist, it was interesting how the the area
studies person and the student, who were actually trying to address the
issue of the children were continuously interupted, and disparaged while
the others argued for "controlling China."
What are you showing this documentary for?
