Lewis Klahr is a master of this technique. I believe there is a video
available of some of his works. His films are available through
Filmmaker's Co-op in New York. I saw one of his works at the New York
Underground Festival called "Downs are Feminine" and a while back he was
touring with his 4 hour opus "Memories of the Forgotten Future" I watched
the entire 4 hours, about half of it silent and only semi-narrative, and
was still entranced. And I'm not the type to sit thru experimental work of
that length! Highly recommended.
