I am trying to locate a silent film version of Richard Strauss`s opera,
"Der Rosenkavalier" (made in the mid-twenties in Germany), in which the
great baritone Michael Bohnen re-created the role of Baron Ochs, which he
played so memorably in the opera house. The film had a specially arranged
score prepared by the composer, to be played by a live orchestra, and I
believe that Strauss also recorded this music (possibly also intended to
be used for screenings, when live musicians were not available).
Any suggestions as to where I might find this film ?
