SCREEN-L is a forum for both students and teachers of film/TV. As
such it is open to queries from subscribers with a variety of
backgrounds in film/TV study. "Familiarity with the previous
literature" is not a requirement for posting a message. Indeed, it is
expected that subscribers may use SCREEN-L in order to be guided to
pertinent articles, books, and films/TV programs.

Students should not expect SCREEN-L subscribers to do their work for them, to
substitute for some basic research in the nearest library. However,
responsible inquiries from students stuck on a thorny research issue are
always welcome.

The moderating of SCREEN-L will always take a generous attitude toward
letting messages through. If a message is on the borderline of
acceptibility, we will let it through--preferring to err on the side of
letting too much through instead of too little.

Thanks to one and all for their thoughts on SCREEN-L, and now back to
our regularly scheduled discussions...
