. . . for whatever it's worth i get livid when the audience laughs at funny
bits in the opera house--say, specifically , in rossini operas--cause though
i recognize that there's some funny stuff going on i really wanna hear those
wonderful voices singing and anything--ANYTHING--that gets in the way makes
me crazy . . .
. . . i don't at all mean to defend this position, or even claim it to be
rational . . . but it's true and may have some implications in this
increasingly interesting thread
