The Board of Trustees for the Bettina Russell Memorial Fund and the
Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University are pleased to
announce the date of the first annnual Bettina Russell Film Festival.
Producers of films related to women's issues and social justice are
encouraged to submit their works as entries for the Bettina Russell Film
Festival.  The competition will be held at Wilfrid Laurier University
October 3 - 5, 1996.  The Festival invites entries in the media of
television, film or filmstrip.  Entries will be accepted in the following
categories and production classifications.
 
        CATEGORY                        PRODUCTION CLASSIFICATION
 
1.  Documentary                         1. Student
2.  Drama (Short/Full Length)           2. Professional
3.  Comedy (Short/Full Length)          3. Amateur
4.  Animation
5.  Educational
 
All productions must be submitted on standard VHS videotape.  The deadline
for entries is **May 31, 1996.
 
Focus for films should be in Women and Health, Women and Aging, Women and
History, Women and Violence, Achievement and Women and Social Justice Issues.
 
AWARDS
 
One Award of Excellence may be given in each category and
classification.  Judges may also grant Certificates of Merit for
productions.  These may be shown at the festival in selected locations.
The Bettina Russell Award will be presented in recognition of the
outstanding production.  This production may be selected to be
shown on TV Ontario.
 
SHOWCASE
 
All entries will be available for viewing during the course of the
festival.  A catalogue of entries will be included in your registration
package.
