I'd really have to encourage you to try THE HAUNTING (1965).  It scared me
witless as a child.  And when I watched it again a few years back, it
terrified me even more as an adult thirtysomething.  It's amazing how
terrifying it is, yet with no blood or gore.  As a grad student in film, it's
the kind of movie I'd love to make oneday.  And it's defitintely not a movie
to watch alone late at night!!!  Enjoy!
