Lecturer in Media Studies
Limited term 3 years
Centre for Film, Television and Media Studies
University of Auckland, New Zealand
 
The University of Auckland seeks a lecturer able to design, coordinate and
teach courses in Media Studies for first-year students. These courses will
examine media in terms of the interaction between technology, economics,
politics and culture and will also explore media language (genres,
conventions, codes of represetnation). It will also be an advantage to be
able to teach Film Studies, Television Studies or Cultural Studies (with an
emphasis on the British tradition of Cultural Studies). An ability to teach
advanced papers and to supervise graduate research would also be required.
 
Applicants should have a PhD in media studies or a related field, or
equivalent qualifications.
 
Commencing salary will be established within the range $NZ42,500-$51,500 per
annum.
